Based in Kent, Ashdown Cookery School had run a successful operation for many years. However, its website was not responsive and was in need of a large makeover. In addition, the client wanted a more interactive website that displayed their courses and products in multiple ways to suit different user preferences.
The new website produced results immediately leading to more sold out courses and significant increase in sales of Gift Vouchers.
The Solution
WordPress was a very good solution due to it’s CMS capabilities and the fact that WooCommerce integrates so well with it. I chose premium plugins from Modern Tribe for the Events and Ticket Management, but these needed some custom coding to ensure that the brief was successfully met.
Ashdown Cookery School provided amazing images and content as well as strong thoughts on the colour palette to be used.
As always, the success of projects such as this comes down to the close interaction and involvement between client and website developer.
The Brief
Modern but with a ‘country kitchen feel’, e-commerce capability enabling users to book and buy a range of services.
Multiple formats needed to display courses i.e. grid, list and calendar. Availability of places needed to be provided, with clear ‘Sold Out’ messages so that users didn’t waste time browsing for courses where places were not available.
Gift vouchers to be sold in different denominations and a showcase of the Chefs and Private Dining experiences.
